Board of Trustees of Benha National University: Starting the Academic Year at the Faculties of Visual Arts and Veterinary Medicine Next Year

"El-Said": Completing the University’s Essential Components and New Mechanisms for Student Coordination and Admission

The Board of Trustees of Benha National University held its meeting chaired by Dr. Gamal El-Said, Chairman of the Board, with the attendance of Major General Abdel Hamid El-Hagan, Governor of Qalyubia, Dr. Soheir Shaarawy, Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Benha National University, Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, Dr. Gamal Sosa, Acting President of Benha National University, Dr. Mohamed Safy El-Din Kherbouch, Professor of Political Science at Cairo University, Dr. Mohamed El-Kawsy, Former Head of the Egyptian Space Agency, Dr. Mahmoud Muslim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Watan Newspaper and Senator, Eng. Mohamed El-Sherif, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Obour City, Dr. Suleiman Mustafa, Acting Vice President of Benha National University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Hussein El-Maghraby, Director of the Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation Center, Dr. Ahmed Shawky, University Auditor, and Ms. Samia Abdel-Hamid, Acting Secretary-General of the University.

Through the Teams platform, Dr. Mahmoud Mohie El-Din, Professor of Economics at Cairo University, Eng. Hany Dahy, Former Minister of Transport, Dr. Maher Msbah, Secretary-General of the Board of Trustees of National Universities, and Dr. Mohamed El-Sharkawy, Assistant Minister for Policies and Economic Affairs and Acting Head of the Universities Development and Support Authority, participated.

In his speech, Dr. Gamal El-Said emphasized that Benha National University is the first private university established by public universities, with a decision to form its Board of Trustees and approval of its internal regulations. He pointed out that the university has been keen to finalize all its operating systems and complete the essential components for its operation, separating it from Benha University.

Dr. El-Said also expressed his gratitude to Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, his advisors, and the Board of Trustees of National Universities for providing all forms of support in the establishment of Benha National University. He also thanked all those involved in the management of Benha National University since its inception and its operational phase for fulfilling its educational and scientific mission.

During the session, the Board of Trustees approved the start of studies at the Faculties of Visual Arts and Veterinary Medicine starting from the academic year 2024 / 2025, increasing the number of faculties at Benha National University to 8. This decision is part of the university's plan to utilize all available resources and provide excellent educational opportunities for students by offering specialized programs that meet the needs of the labor market and future job opportunities in various sectors.

The Board also approved the university's coordination and admission policy for the academic year 2024 / 2025, including the introduction of new mechanisms for student coordination and acceptance at Benha National University. Additionally, the Board approved some amendments to the rules regarding scholarships and discounts for the academic year 2024 / 2025, in the context of cooperation between the university, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Universities Development and Support Authority.

The Board reviewed the results of the Quality Assurance and Academic Accreditation Center regarding a student survey on educational programs and course content, which was prepared in both Arabic and English. The survey included three main areas: course evaluation, the educational environment, and the evaluation of faculty members for each course.

During the session, the Board approved the financial statements for the university's founding period from September 1, 2022, to August 30, 2023, as well as the financial statements for the first quarter of the academic year 2023 / 2024, covering the period from September 1 to November 30, 2023.

The Board also approved the implementation of a health insurance system for faculty members, staff, and students, as part of the university's commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare for its members.
